Fixed and Removable Dentures

Dentures are artificial teeth to replace your lost natural ones. There are two types of dentures, Fixed dentures and Removable Dentures.

Fixed dentures.( Crown and Bridge)

CROWNS & BRIDGES are fixed teeth replacements that are bonded or cemented on to the existing teeth or implant and function exactly like your natural teeth.

Dental Crowns.

Crowns fix and protect teeth that are so damaged or diseased that they need more support than a simple filling.They mimic the colour shape and size of the neighboring natural teeth .It covers and protects the entire tooth. Crowns are advised in the following conditions.

A large and heavily filled tooth with very little natural tooth structure remaining.
A fractured , broken down tooth thereby protecting the remaining underlying tooth.
Root canal treated teeth : After root canal therapy is performed, a tooth becomes extremely brittle and is significantly weaker.
To cover discolored , malformed or poorly shaped teeth.

Dental Bridges

Bridges replace missing teeth and offer support for the surrounding teeth to help retain the integrity of the jaw and facial structure.The missing teeth are replaced with an artificial tooth connected between 2 crowns (caps) that are permanently connected on the adjacent teeth.

If you have missing teeth, a bridge prevents the remaining natural teeth from shifting, so that dental arch integrity and esthetics are not compromised.

Material and advantages

At Cherians Dental Clinic we provide metal ceramic and metal free ceramic Crown and bridges.

Metal ceramic crowns are subject to two limitations: Because they have a metal framework underneath, they do not allow light to pass through them giving them an opaque look. Our natural teeth on the other hand are translucent and they allow the transmission of light unlike the ceramic fused to metal which makes it impossible to fully re-create the translucency of natural teeth.They also eventually will show a dark line at the edge, next to the gum over a period of time.

Metal free ceramic crowns arenot only are more esthetic and gum friendly but also as strong as porcelain fused to metal crowns. The core of these crowns are alumina or zirconia.There in no black metal line seen at the edge next to the gum since they are All ceramic and at the same time allow the transmission of light similar to your natural teeth giving lifelike aesthetics.

Removable Dentures

In cases where implants and fixed crown and bridges are not practical, removable dentures are the best options for replacement of missing teeth. At times, removable dentures serve as a temporary means while waiting for dental implant placements to heal. While they are the permanent treatment solution in other cases . They are much more economical when compared to fixed dentures and implants.

When replacing a complete upper or lower arch of missing teeth, full dentures are the best option. We provide dentures made by different materials.

the cast partial denture is one where the framework is made of metal , which is custom designed and fabricated. They have better balance.

Semiflexible dentures

Since the conventional acrylic is rigid, a few additives have been made to make the denture flexible and therefore make it easier to snap on and off.. It also helps do away with metallic clasps that are used in regular partial dentures.
